One, I had NO idea where to put this, since DA doesn't seem to have an area for culinary arts. Two... um... I wanted to put this up because I liked it. O.o;
As the title should have said, this is a little baking collaberation thingy my friend and I did. We wanted to make something special for my best friend's birthday, and as an inside joke my sister and I had come up with the idea to make "the cake". Now, "the cake" has a pretty long story to it that I myself can't explain all that well, since another friend was the one that made it up. (And I thought I made up weird stories and went of on wild tangents.) So anyway, to make things a little less confusing, "the cake" in question is actually just a semi-regular Japanese Christmas cake. What's that? It's a layered sponge cake with whipped cream frosting on it, topped with strawberries both in the middle and on top. Pretty simple, right? ...That's what we thought. x.x; And I'm sure it really IS simple if it wasn't so damned hard to make the actual cake. ._.;
I tried three different times to make that cake. I don't know what I was doing wrong (I beat the eggs all to hell, I put a lot of air in that batter, what more should I have done??), but every time I tried to make it the cake would turn out... flat. Not fluffy like it should have been, FLAT. But at least this time it didn't taste like eggs... I think the frosting helped too, actually. So anyway, the end result was actually pretty good. The cake wasn't too bad, but... it definitely looked a lot better than it tasted. x.x
So why is this a collaberation? Well, I made the cake itself, and my friend did the decorations. Why? Because I can't frost things worth crap. ;.;
In the end, the birthday girl at least tried it, which made me happy. (She's very picky, so I'm just glad she took at least a bite. e.e) The rest of us finished our pieces, and now there is... nothing left but this here memory. ^.^;; I'm a dork, I know.
